*** BJJ Camp in BRAZIL *** Dear Association Students, Due to the success of last year's BJJ Camp in Brazil (see student testimony below), I decided to continue with this effective way of teaching Jiu-Jitsu and do another camp in Brazil this year on July 21-28. The BJJ Camp is located in Angra dos Reis, Brazil, a gorgeous beach resort with more than 300 surrounding islands, and only 1.5 hours drive from the famous city of Rio de Janeiro. For more information on Angra dos Reis, please visit its official website at http://www.angra-dos-reis.com/ingles/index.htm. The BJJ Camp includes: * many hours of daily training with Professor Luiz Palhares and other Brazilian black belts * comfortable beach house accommodations with very nice surroundings ( there is also the option of staying in a local hotel please ask Professor Luiz) * all meals provided (breakfast, lunch and dinner) * shuttle service to/from the airport and the BJJ Camp site * sail boat tour of Angra dos Reis Bay (meals and drinks NOT included) The all inclusive price for the Camp will be $1,000.00 plus airfare. We can obtain a group discount from Brazilian Wave Tours. This would also ensure that we are all in the same flight and that I would be able to assist you in the airport at our arrival. However, this is not mandatory and if you choose to purchase your ticket through another agent, you must make arrangements for your flight to arrive at the Rio de Janeiro International Airport (GIG) with sufficient time to get through customs before our shuttle departs. Our shuttle service will pick us up at 1:00pm to take us to the BJJ Camp site. For more airline ticket information, please contact Danielle at Brazilian Wave Tours at 800-682-3315 Ext 11. The airfare starts at U$735.00 from Miami to Rio de Janeiro on Tam Brazilian Airlines. ONLY A FEW SEATS AVAILABLE AT THIS PRICE! Please note that you will need to obtain a visa to enter the country. You should start to apply for the visa in March because its validity lasts only 90 days. For more information, please visit the Brazilian Embassy in Washington, DC. Also note that Danielle at Brazilian Wave Tours will be more than glad to assist you with obtaining the visa. Since we will have a limited number of participants for the BJJ Camp, we ask for a non-refundable $200.00 advance payment as soon as possible to reserve your place. Please include all relevant information (your school, instructor, email-address and phone) with both payments. Mail your check or money order payable to: Luiz Palhares Jiu-Jitsu Association 3664 Chimney Creek Drive Virginia Beach, VA 23462-6815 The rest of the payment must be in by July 7, 2007, two weeks prior to our departure date. Appreciatively, Professor Luiz Palhares Here is the testimony from one of our students who participated in the first camp: "I participated in Professor's first Angra Jiu-Jitsu camp in the summer of 2006. I have trained in Brazil on 3 different occasions and I have also attended a camp ran by another Professor of Jiu-Jitsu. I enjoyed Luiz's camp very much. The details of the camp were very well organized. The training was incredible. We basically had a seminar each of the 7 days. It was fun to interact with the Brazilians that were from Angra as well as those that were brought from Rio to train with us. Although the training was exhausting, the house we stayed in was comfortable, the food was terrific, and the landscape, very beautiful and relaxing. Here are some details that make this camp different: * There were plenty of Brazilians to train with. Sometimes you go to a camp and only train with other Americans. Here there are plenty of tough Brazilians to train with. We had 4 black belts, 5 brown belts, several purples and several blues to train with on a daily basis. * The food is home cooked traditional Brazilian cuisine. No restaurant food here, unless you want it. * The house was comfortable and right on the ocean!!!!!!! * We all train with Luiz. But at the camp Luiz is largely the translator and Claudio Fontes is the instructor. The techniques have a different "flavor" to them. * You are in safe surroundings. Angra is safe compared to other locations in Rio state. I highly recommend this camp to people at all levels of Jiu-Jitsu. There is no doubt that it will benefit your Jiu-Jitsu game and will also provide a lasting cultural experience." Josh Johnson Black Belt Luiz Palhares Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Association |
